Club Med commence construction on a new luxury resort in Koh Samui, bringing its Exclusive Collection brand to Thailand for the first time and offering an upscale alternative in the popular island destination.
Club Med has begun work on a new resort in Koh Samui, a move that will bring its Exclusive Collection brand to Thailand for the first time and add a more upmarket option to one of the country’s best-known island destinations. According to the company, the project follows the signing of a hotel management agreement earlier this year with Central Capital Group, and the groundbreaking ceremony was held on 25 August 2026.
The opening is being positioned as the second Club Med property in Thailand, following Club Med Phuket, which first opened in 1985. Club Med says the Koh Samui resort will sit within its Exclusive Collection, a tier designed to offer guests more space, privacy and personal service than its standard all-inclusive holidays. The brand describes the concept as combining spacious accommodation with a more refined all-inclusive experience, aimed at travellers looking for comfort as much as convenience.
The ceremony itself included a traditional blessing and the planting of native Samui coconut seedlings, a gesture intended to reflect the island setting and signal a new beginning for the development. Club Med said the resort is its third Exclusive Collection property in the East and South Asia and Pacific region, underscoring the group’s broader push into higher-end beach escapes.
For travellers, the appeal will be Koh Samui itself: a tropical island with easy access to beaches, relaxed luxury hotels and wellness-focused stays. Club Med says the new resort is being developed as part of a wider international expansion strategy, but for holidaymakers the more immediate question is what it will mean on the ground , a branded all-inclusive option that promises the familiarity of Club Med with a more exclusive feel in one of Thailand’s most popular resort locations.
